Happy Holidays!

For me, the Christmas season doesn't officially start until after Thanksgiving Day. I don't care how soon they have the trees and decorations up in the stores. After posting a few Thanksgiving ideas I thought I would let everyone have a head start and get busy creating your Christmas decorations. Here are a few of my fav. Hopefully I'll have some spare time to finish them.

Don't want the fuss of putting up a Christmas Tree?

I love to crochet but there are limits!

I stumbled across this page a few weeks ago. Below is their link. Check it out for a good laugh.

whatnot2crochet.com

There have been a number of times I've looked online for patterns or just ideas and see items that people have crochet.... and maybe they shouldn't have.

Here's a quick preview of some items I found. Yikes!

Wait, before you look, let me start by apologizing if you have made, would like to make, sold, purchased or even like any of the items below, it's just my personal opinion.

I'm not sure if I'm disturbed by this dress because it's just wrong
or because I know if I actually wore it I would constantly be hungry
Was Cate Blanchett's stylist sick this day?
Is it a wrap or some kind of arm restraint?
No! Step away from the crochet hook. Buy your swimsuits in the store. Unless you know how to sew on the lining
do NOT attempt to crochet a swimsuit. What a predicament you'd be in if it comes unraveled!
Gives me chills just to look at it. I believe it's suppose to be an octopus but to me...
I see a jellyfish. And I suddenly feel a sharp, burning pain again.
Clowns are scary enough. There's no reason to create one.
This was labeled as a bikini. Where are the bottoms?
Because it's not tempting enough, why not have them laying around.
Doily anyone? With a fringed belt?
By the way, this is actually sold in a store for almost $200
Ring, ring! Ring, ring! The 1920's called and they want their fashion back.
Really Rihanna? Really?
Wow! Absolutely not!
Maybe for an art project
Tampon cozies?
If it was for a Halloween costume.... no, never mind. Still wouldn't wear it.

Monkey Hat Pattern??? Anyone??? Guess I'll make up my own. :/

I've discovered that my crocheting has become much like my cooking. I like a little bit of this recipe and a little bit of that recipe. So I guess I'll do what seems to work best and combine a number of them to make up my own.

I really want to make monkey hat as my next new animal to come out but just haven't found a pattern I like. So here's the deal...

I really like the pattern for this hat. You can find the free pattern by Amber on her Bright and Shiny - Lovely and Good blog.
But the ears on this little guy are perfect! I found him on Photography by Axsys Design's website.
And then I found a pattern for a gorilla mask! How great is that? Do think it's similar enough to a monkey? You can find the pattern on Crochet Me's website under Safari Sniffers.
We'll see how it goes! Wish me luck!

How to treasure your treasures

I definitely don't condone hoarding but there are certain events in life that should be treasured. With my recent adventure into crocheting baby hats I came across this picture. I thought this would be an adorable way to remember your baby's first hat.

This is a fairly easy project for all the new mamas out there. Before giving away or packing up all those newborn clothes find one or two pieces you love. Buy a shadow box, some scrapbook paper and get to work! Need more room? Buy a bigger frame and throw their booties in there too.

A hint?

First one is made with camoflauge yarn... need I say more?
Second one... it's in season, guys go crazy over it and maybe it's because I'm a girl, but I just don't get it.
